The National Skipping Challenge is a project organised by ‘Skipping Workshops’. Beginning in 2002 over 8000 children from over 1000 different schools throughout England, Wales, Scotland, Northern Ireland & Ireland have taken part. We've also had entries from Guernsey, the Isle of Man, Hong Kong and Dubai. Maybe we should be calling it the 'International Skipping Challenge'.

The objective is to motivate and inspire children who have developed an interest in skipping and wish to improve their skills. Any child can, through their school, submit their name to us and at the end of the year a list will be published of the best scores in each category. Since the 2009-10 academic year, each child with a top 10 score earns points for their school (10pts for 1st, 9pts for 2nd, etc.), and at the end of the school year the points are added up to find the winning school. We hope this will encourage children to raise their own standards and strive to improve further. In the eight years the challenge has been running we have seen a huge rise in standards of skipping across the country.

Schools wishing to submit an entry for any of the challenges should send the following information to “Skipping Workshops”: name and age of child, school name, the category attempted and the achievement(s).
